REAL LIFE

The Right Age for Love

By Annuh, age 15, Alabama

For as long as I had been alive, I had never seen any couple in its teen years who was in love. What does this mean? Is there an age restriction on love? Does Cupid only shoot his little arrows at adults or something?

Well, going into high school, I noticed a lot of couples. Normally I would look at them and be like, "Oh, it's just a fling." But recently my opinion has changed. Some of these couples in high school have been together for more than a year, sometimes two or three. WOW!

So what changed? Did Cupid start feeling badly for all the teenagers' loneliness? Hmm. It really makes me think. Seeing these couples made me change my view on love. I mean, maybe there isn't a right age for love; maybe there's just a right time. But certainly the time isn't at one particular age for everyone.

Well, I have to say that love is a great experience, no matter at what age. Young or old, it doesn't matter. So there isn't a certain age. This means that love takes us by surprise. There's no way to prepare, but we must always be ready to be swept off our feet.
