Olive Oil Sugar Scrub

By Mandy, age 13, Oklahoma

It's turning into winter, and your skin is getting dry. Horrible, right? After all, what girl would want to go out with dry, dry, dry skin? Honey makes your skin softer, but with a few more ingredients, you can have soft skin and clear up your acne. :D This scrub also heals your blemishes and retains your natural moisture. Plus this is 100% natural and won't clog your pores. So let's get started, shall we? :)

INGREDIENTS

3 tsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Not regular or virgin olive oil.
2 tsp of honey (If you're allergic to honey, use aloe vera instead.)
1/2 cup of Granulated Sugar - No Splenda!

GET STARTED

Mix all of these ingredients in a plastic container that has a lid, so you can store it overnight if you don't use it all. This mixture shouldn't be too grainy or liquidy, but it should be a little grainy, depending on the amount you used.

Wash your face with your regular cleansers. Apply the mixture to your face, gently scrubbing your skin, so the sugar can exfoliate your dead skin cells. The honey and the olive oil will nourish your skin and keep it moisturized. Leave the mixture on for about 2 minutes.

[TIP: If you don't use it all, store it overnight at room temperature, or else you can use it as a body scrub! ;D ]

Wash your face with warm water and pat dry. Your skin should now feel soft and moisturized. If it feels slippery or greasy, then you used too much olive oil - something to remember next time. This is great for all skin types and is very light and natural. Since the honey and the olive oil moisturize your skin, there is no need for lotion. Use this treatment every night - that's what I do! :D
