You're Not That Ugly

You're not that ugly. You have no idea how often I heard that.
Talking to our friends, most of them are joking, but we all know that it still affects us. Some days I absolutely adore what I look like. Other days I don't even want to crawl out of bed. But honestly, people can be so brutal! My best friend and I always compliment each other. We always tell each other we're gorgeous - and we know that we mean it!
But when it comes to guys, they have no idea how to compliment. Granted there are some "winners" out there who have the whole system down, but apparently I didn't find one.
No, don't get me wrong. I love my boyfriend. He's the light of my life. But when we argue and I slip in something like "My goal in life is to be the hottest girl you ever looked at, but we all know that's not going to happen ..." he tries to comfort me with his words of wisdom: "Yeah, you're probably right." (Of course, I should have known I was asking for trouble.)
THANKS ... THANKS A LOT! Just want I wanted to hear! I'm upset because we're arguing, and now I'm upset because you don't think I'm hot!
Ok, so ladies, guys may not be the best with words, but be optimistic. Just because one guy doesn't think you're the greatest thing out there doesn't mean that every guy thinks you're ugly. Looking back on pictures of my 13th and 14th year of life - those pictures you want to burn - I thought I was the ugliest girl in the world. Acne, braces, and glasses. Not to mention an expander in my mouth which led to spit flying out at random times. Anyway, I talk to guys now who were in my life at that time, and they say stuff like, "We never really thought you were that ugly." And to be truthful that makes my day.
So things aren't always as bad as they seem. And you're never as ugly as you think you are. And if people are basing things on how you look, then those people are completely shallow and not worth your time. People should base things on your personality and your determination.
Girls ... optimism is the key! You're gorgeous! Flaunt it! Show it! If you don't know you're gorgeous, then get help and surround yourself with people who will tell you you're gorgeous! Because nobody needs to be put down.
