Springtime in Barcelona

By Lareesa, age 17, Wales, UK

Spain - home to some of the most beautiful beaches, statues, paintings, and people in the world. Although Spain has always been known for its fashions, never has it stood out quite as much as in late 2007 and 2008.

I recently had the privilege of going to Barcelona with a friend and one of my cousins. The aim of our three day trip was so that my friend, an aspiring photographer, could get some shots of the scenery, but we unexpectedly ended up shopping in the world famous Las Ramblas and having our own mini-photo shoot in the middle of nowhere.

The laid back sophistication of many of the spring looks were what had us - and many others - in a spending frenzy. Shops such as Zara and Mont Blanc are pricey, yes, but definitely worth it if you're looking for the perfect outfit this spring.

But let's be realistic. It's not every day that you can just fly off to Barcelona and pay an extravagant amount on one outfit. So do it online! www.zara.com should be saved at the top of your favorites this spring and summer!

Although Las Ramblas was the place to be, the highlights of new discovery can be found in the small, untouched but unforgettable El Born. Although not widely known as a shopping area it was stimulating to stroll around the winding streets of the old town and discover small shops, new labels, and innovative designers. It's always exciting to find a new designer with a rare talent. El Born was full of them - quite a rare commodity for such a large and famous city.

With designs unparalleled for uniqueness H&M has taken on the partnership of many musical artists such as Rihanna (whom we all know has a pretty fantastic style), Timbaland, and Good Charlotte in the support of their new campaign against AIDS. The tops they've created are very original, affordable, and it's for a good cause. The only downside is that you can't buy H&M items online, so it looks like you're going to have to head off to your local store. (Find out where it is at www.HM.com.)

This spring try something elegant and sophisticated!
