Our New Names

By Angie & Allie, age 7 weeks, Massachusetts

We really like our new home. Our new owner spends a lot of time playing with us and caring for our needs, so much in fact that we feared she wouldn't get her really humongous May issue online in time. So we thought we'd better help her out by writing an article.

We were really impressed when she told us the many names you all suggested (mew, mew!!). In fact, they continue pouring in even as we sit here pawing away at the keyboard between catnaps. We listed a bunch of them below.

Alright, so what names did you all suggest? Someone suggested "My" and "Space" though I think they may have been joking. Zack & Cody was a cute choice - we love the show and have a big time crush! - but apparently Cody is the name of the cat at her family's house, and Zack isn't quite right for a girl, y'know?

I said 'Backspace', not 'Backslash'!!

The names Delilah & Peanut were adorable, but we argued over who would end up with Peanut - it ended in a real catfight. Steph loved Lily, suggested by Steph's sister and six different readers. But apparently she already knows some cats named Lily.

A few of Stephanie's faves: Cotton & Candy, MaryKate & Ashley, Kit & Kaboodle, Riley, Sugar & Spice, Adora Bell, Paprika, Waffles, Clovis, Squints, Pixel, and Bojangles.

Unfortunately, we still think in 'cat' then translate to English.

Then there were a few we totally didn't get, like Zoboomafoo and Ralph (for a girl??). And we're definitely not Prissy and Hissy ... well, my sister maybe, but me? I don't think so! ... Oww! Keep those paws to yourself!!

The girl who suggested Allison & Alyssa came the closest, but in the end she picked Angie (for me, "Kitty A") and Allie (for me, "Kitty B"). We like our new names and we want to thank all of you who gave Stephanie a lot to think about!!

A purrr-fect article requires purrr-oofreading.
