"Loved" Is Not a Word
By Daniella, age 19, Texas
"Loved" is not a word;
There is no past tense to love.
If you love someone,
You'll love them no matter what ...
Without any regard ...
With meaning, yet uncontrollably.
I think everyone should know that when they meet that one person ...
You know, that one person who makes you go "Whoa".
You should know that, for one, you are not going to be their "first" ...
their "last" ...
nor will you be their "only" ...
I mean, I'm sure they've been with other people
So they've had their share of heartbreaks and mendings;
They have loved before
and they'll freely do it again.
But when you really think about it ...
They do love you now ...
and that's all that should matter!
This person is for darn sure not perfect ...
But then look at yourself ...
You are not perfect either ...
And the two of you will never be, admit it.
But if this person can make you laugh like no other ...
And if this person does admit to being only human
and making mistakes ...
Hold on ... Hold on to them for who they are.
Chances are they will not write you aesthetic poetry (unless really in the moment) ...
And no, they will not be thinking about you every moment of the day (it's only natural),
But when you really, truly think about it
This person is giving you a part of them
that they know you can easily break down, tear apart, and hurt ...
But don't do that; don't hurt them.
Don't expect more than what this person can only give.
Don't change this person;
After all you're with this person because of the spark in the beginning.
Don't overanalyze the situation ...
Take it as it is!
And for pete's sake, yes, yell when they make you mad ...
Cry when they hurt your heart ...
Smile when they make you utterly happy ...
Miss them when they are not there ...
and love them every day you are with them ...
After all, not hearing their heartbeat is being too far away ...
Enjoy its loving company until it's gone.
