My Everyday Makeup

By Chelsea, age 14, Virginia

I know that everyone who reads Sweet Designs Magazine doesn't have fair skin and blonde hair, so I decided to tell you what makeup products I use and how I apply them.

To start off, I wash my face with Clean and Clear Shine Control facial scrub. I rinse, and then apply Clean and Clear Spot Treatment to all of my pimples. Next comes Clean and Clear Shine Control Moisturizer. After my face is clean, I start with the makeup!

First comes foundation which I only wear because my complexion is a little uneven and my face gets really shiny. I think that girls our age are too young for liquid. So I use CoverGirl pressed powder, but you could also use a whipped foundation like DreamMatte. I use C8 Cocoa or 275 Soft Sable, but you can find the right color for you. If you're a girl of color, you may want to try CoverGirl's Queen Collection by Queen Latifah. They have a wider variety of foundations for women of color! Don't overapply your foundation, just a light amount to even out your skin tone or cover your blemishes. Don't rub in circles or rub down. Sweep the brush or sponge up. It makes it look better. By the way, I don't recommend blush for girls our age.

Then I apply my eyeliner. I use Mary Kay Signature, but I have used CoverGirl Perfect Blend before. Liquid is really messy, and a pencil can get painful. So I use a mechanical crayon type thing. I recommend using black or very black because it makes you look so pretty. Put a line on your bottom lash line, and if you would like, your top too. Don't use too much or you will look emo/goth (unless that's the look you're going for!)

Next comes eyeshadow. Don't use really bright colors because it'll make you look like a 5 year old playing in her mommy's makeup. Use pastels or neutrals, and make sure to blend it in so you won't look like a clown. Now it's time for mascara. Use volumizing mascara like Volume Exact or Lash Blast. Put mascara on both your top lashes and bottom.

Now for your lips. If you use lipstick, use a natural color like brown or burgundy. I recommend clear lip gloss, or lip gloss with a little tint. Don't use too much or you'll look like you just ate fried chicken!

So that's how I apply my makeup, and if you use my tips you should be beautiful!! (:

How do you do your makeup?? Write a couple paragraphs describing how you do it and which specific products you use, and send some high quality photos, and you may be featured here next month!!
