Poison
By Tess, age 14, Florida
We both had a broken heart,
But as we laid eyes on each other's broken faces,
We fixed each other from the start.
The tears swam in my eyes,
You kissed them all away,
Such sweet poison that lifted my heart to the skies.
A simple embrace
Silenced all the anger in me,
Aligned the stars intertwining them in lace.
You fixed the broken
Part of my heart,
You know every word from my mouth that hasn't been spoken,
From the distant moon
You're calling my name,
Sweet notations of what's coming soon.
From miles around
I feel your love,
To silence the sound
Of sweet, tender poison.
