Hey, I'm Chelsea, and I'm 14 years young! I am African American and I'm from Virginia. I have an older sister who's 22 and younger brother who's 3.
I'm a rising 9th grader at my high school, and I'm really excited. My plans are to graduate with an advanced diploma since I have had straight A's since grade school. Then I would like to attend university and major in Computer Graphic Art Design and Fashion. I would also like to model because that is my dream. I just got accepted into Barbizon Modeling!
I would definitely have to say I'm a popular person. I was vice president of my class in 7th grade, and that allowed me to get to know a lot of people. I'm a very outgoing and loud person, and I'm easy to get along with. My friends mean a lot to me. They're the people I go to with whatever's going on in my life, and I know they'll understand. We trust each other with our lives!
I applied to Sweet Designs Magazine in February 2007, just because it seemed like fun, but I never thought I would make it.* I was soo excited when I did. I love creative writing and expressing my opinions for everyone to hear. And I already loved the magazine. (:
If I had to choose one word to describe myself, it would be unique. I'm so different, and I never try to fit in with the crowds. I make my own fashion statements, start my own trends, and do what I want, not what others want me to do. That's what keeps me positive and "above the influence."
Music is my life! I listen it to it constantly. I love hip hop, rap, r&b, soul, and sometimes a little country. My friends and I love dancing and we're pretty good at it (sometimes). (:
What keeps me going is to tell myself this: "Keep your head up high. They would kill to see you fall."
* Editor's note: In February 2007 I selected Chelsea and six others, including featured writer Christina, out of the initial group of more than 50 applicants. Gold Stars Lauren, Mayra, and Cara soon followed that spring, and the rest, as they say, is our brief history. :)
