Health & Beauty Tips
That Won't Cost You a Dime

By Yorkelis, age 18, Dominican Republic / New York

Have you ever heard of those bizarre home remedies that a friend of a friend told you about? Or perhaps your dear beloved Granny? Well, I for one know that some are myths, but others are pure genius. As girls we always have to maintain our physical appearance top notch. The hair, the face and skin, and so on. We often read hip and very chic magazines looking for this sort of beauty 411. If this describes you, well, you're in for a treat! From cramps remedies to last minute bra stuffing tips, Fashion Girl, we've got you covered!!

Let's Begin with Our Monthly "Gift", the Cramps

♥ Avoid caffeine. It increases tension in your muscles. Caffeine is present in coffee, chocolate, some sodas, many energy drinks, and tea.

♥ Exercise. I know it sounds crazy, but exercising will help you circulate blood and oxygen through the body, and this helps.

♥ Warm tea bag. Don't drink the tea - it has caffeine - but take the tea bag right after the tea is made and place it on your abdomen. Works like a charm.

Hair, the Oh-so Silky Mane

♥ When there's an unexpected event or last minute deal, and your hair is not as clean and shiny as you'd like, don't sweat it. Just apply some baby powder in the roots and gently blow-dry. It will appear as if you'd stepped out of the hair salon.

♥ Dandruff? Don't be embarrassed. Just pour some vinegar onto the scalp. Massage and spread out over your whole head. Leave on for a few minutes and then wash out. (This process usually needs to be repeated for 4 days or more.)

It's All About the Frame, Our Face

Luscious Lips

Want those Angelina Jolie luscious and full lips without injecting any collagen? No problem.

♥ Exfoliate. Take a toothbrush, and gently brush your lips to remove dead skin.

♥ Apply a small amount of concealer to give them that extra plump.

♥ Apply your lipstick or lip gloss, and you're all set. Kissable!

For Skin That's 'In'

♥ Have a new 'pest friend', or should I say enemy? A zit? Before bed put a dab of toothpaste on the zit. It eliminates the oil and dries that lil' sucker up.

♥ Maintain your skin's hydration. Drink at least 8 cups of water a day.

And Finally, Those Last Minute Tips ...

♥ Have a dress or blouse designed for killer cleavage, but don't have the natural filling, or didn't have the time to get one of those padded bras? Well, notice how most bra cups have this small cloth covering in the back? Well, cut a small hole, barely noticeable, and try to find something like '80's shoulder pads, or simply nylon. Fold it into a perfect square, and stuff it right in.

♥ Crazy eyebrows? Even after trimming do they look like they're all over the place? Take a toothbrush (the magic wand) and apply a small amount of hair spray, and ta da! You're good to go!

You see, it's just a matter of trial and error, but to stay on top of your game try these tips and tricks when necessary, and be the best gal you can be! Have fun!
