On The Cover
By Stephanie Lynn, age 23, Massachusetts
On this month's cover we are honored to feature indie singer/songwriter Jessica Mellott, an 18 year old from Maryland who combines enthusiasm, genuine talent, and stunningly good looks. I thoroughly enjoyed our interview - she was sweet, down-to-earth, and fascinating. I can also quite honestly recommend her music. Take note of the name - this girl is going places!!
In addition to the usual questions about her life and music, I also asked Jessica for some of her beauty tips and experiences. Be sure to check them out. I'm sure you'll find something that works for you.
August also marks the first of two Back-to-School themed issues, with several beauty and fall fashion articles, as well as 3 articles from Lauren and yours truly with advice about choosing and getting involved in school activities.
Our SDM girls certainly have some unique interests! In this issue you will read about scuba diving, missions work in the Dominican, Civil War reenacting, and water polo. But if all that's a bit too strenuous, curl up and finish the summer with a good book - we have a few winners to recommend.
Plus, some more embarrassing moments, another installment in Natalie's book, Tess struggles to define love after a painful breakup (read this!), and two high quality Real Life articles by Soraya from Texas. If you read anything in this issue, you simply must read "He Loves Me Not..." and "My Sacred Place".
Oh, almost forgot! Dreams of a career in a fashion design? Read my guide to getting started.
Enjoy,
Stephanie Lynn
