My Twilight Addiction

By Mona, age 16, Philippines

I have only been obsessed over Twilight since this past March. Since then I haven't been able to keep my mind off it. I see that a lot of people are addicted to Twilight nowadays. It has become huge since its release in 2005. Stephenie Meyer should be happy that she has made thousands of girls scream their heads off because of Edward Cullen. To those who don't know who Edward Cullen is, well, he's the most beautiful god-like "creature" there is. He's not human though. He is a vampire. That's what makes him beautiful. With his bronze hair and chiseled face, just typing his name gives me chills down my spine. I can't help it. I have fallen in love.

What's crazy about my love for Edward Cullen is he's not even real. He is a fictional character. Still I consider myself in love with him. Especially now, when there's a Twilight movie coming out. Robert Pattinson from Harry Potter has been given the role of Edward. In my opinion he is exactly the Edward Cullen I am looking for. He is just so appealing, even if he looks kind of grungy at times. Screaming fans are waiting for the movie so bad. Fans have been putting up fan sites waiting for it to come out.

MTV has even been bitten by the series. Larry Carroll of MTV has been giving the "Twilighters" something called "Twilight Tuesday". It will come out every Tuesday until the movie is released on the 12th of December, 2008. Thousands of fans have been posting video reactions about the Twilight teaser trailer and the recently released two minute trailer. I too have been screaming and hyperventilating over Twilight. I even call myself Mona Cullen just to make me feel good. If I get confused or angry, I close my eyes and try to think about Twilight and Edward Cullen, and everything goes away. With the recent release of Breaking Dawn, the final book of the Twilight series, I am sad that Twilight is over. I didn't want to flip on the page where it says "The End".

But I don't have to fret. Stephenie Meyer is still working on Midnight Sun, the Twilight story from Edward's point of view. I am so looking forward to that since everything is going to be about Edward. These are the two things every Twilighter is waiting for - the release of Midnight Sun and the release of the much awaited Twilight movie. Stephenie Meyer wrote in her blog that when you go see the movie you should bring a paper bag to hyperventilate into because Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's chemistry is amazing. Twilight has been a big part of my life. I am proud to be a Twilighter.

The Twilight series was reviewed in the May '08 issue of SDM (Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series).
