Never Be Sarcastic
By Ariel, age 15, Hawaii
One of my best friends' names is Steven and he has plenty of hott friends! Well, Steven's friend Kurtis and I had a thing going on last year, but we stopped talking during the summer, and, well, that hurt pretty bad. So on the first day of school I talked to Kurtis to see how he was doing, and I noticed that his friend Dillon was so much better looking this year.
Later on that day I was texting Steven, and I was being sarcastic, saying, "Dillon got so hott during the summer, I would rape him." Steven knew I was being sarcastic, especially knowing I like Kurtis. But during lunch Dillon took Steven's phone and read the text message and was completely shocked, and of course told Kurtis about it. Kurtis got all mad, and basically gave up on me since he thought I liked Dillon.
Dillon called me a couple times, and I actually started to like him, but the whole time I never knew he had read the message. Meanwhile Kurtis was acting weird around me, and I was just freaked out by that, so I tried getting over him.
A couple weeks later I asked Steven to talk to Dillon for me. The next day Steven told me how, if I still wanted to talk to Dillon, he was just going to use me. That made me so angry you couldn't even imagine. I tried talking to Kurtis, but the only thing he could tell me was that I messed up, and he couldn't understand how I was just joking about that kind of thing to Dillon.
Now I'm happy I have someone new, although I've learned never to be sarcastic about things like this because, like Dillon and Kurtis, boys take it seriously!
