If I say I'm sorry and I love you,
will you come to me?
You were in my bed last night, or so I dreamt.
It was unusual since you haven't touched me in months.
I felt your body next to mine,
your hand on my thigh.
You were breathing in my ear,
hoping I would wake.
If I say I'm sorry and I love you,
will you show up?
You kept whispering to me,
words I couldn't comprehend.
I felt you move,
your head buried in my chest.
Your smile was the only light I saw.
You tugged at the comforter.
You woke me up at 2 am.
I heard your voice as I fell asleep.
I felt your hands running through my hair,
it's a familiar feeling.
Your scent is buried beneath sheets you only touched once.
If I say I'm sorry and I love you,
will you take back all the silence, and finally raise your white flag?
