Valentine's Day
By Gia, age 16, Florida
I've always hated Valentine's Day.
Never understanding the concept between the whole affair.
Until that one day, you showed up at my door.
I felt those butterflies every time I saw you,
Even if you left for a second.
I couldn't breathe, let alone form sentences.
Last year you bought me smoothies with an innocent kiss on the forehead.
"Happy Valentine's, sweetie" you whispered.
A big heart shaped box, full of sweets, but also full of love.
"So this is what it feels like to be in love."
Your cologne intertwines with my perfume to make a musky sweet smell.
I rush to your balcony for the whole world to hear,
"I love this guy. Forever and ever!"
It didn't matter that people looked at me weird,
I was just glad that you smiled and said,
"I love this girl."
