By the Way
By April, age 25, New Jersey
i went to the store to get a pair of shoes, it was time i reinvested in something new,
i went to my friend's house to talk about love, life and God. i went to the bus stop with 5 minutes to spare
i went to the java that's brewin' down the street, a hot cup of coffee on a cold winter day, by the way, i love you.
i did the dishes and folded the laundry, checked for snacks for the week and made sure the doors didn't creak. i paid the bills and listened to music, sat down for the news and then headed downtown for a cruise, changed my mind and went near the bay, by the way, i love you.
no matter how many errands i fill the day with, no matter where i go and who i see, no matter what i want or what i need, one thing remains the same. no matter how late or early i am, no matter if i'm shopping or sleeping, laughing or weeping, no matter if i'm cursing or on my knees to pray, one thing remains the same. oh by the way, i love you.
