So I Met a Boy

By Gia, age 17, Florida

So I met a boy,
A boy I never knew could make me happy.
He had this quiet nature, with a bit of sarcasm added in.
He listened to me while I talked about complete nonsense.
He got all nervous around me even though I was shaking inside.
I didn't think a boy like him could make me happy.

He planned birthday parties and made me feel special.
He let me borrow his comfy jacket, which smelled like chlorine and his scent.
I didn't think a boy like him could make me smile the way he did.
So I started falling, giggling at just the thought of him.
omg when you held my hand, I got major butterflies

I didn't think a boy like him could make me happy,
Until he told me just how much he cared.
He didn't need long paragraphs, but just three words that he meant, I love you
It was premature or even rushed because I felt it too.
He didn't give me promises he couldn't fulfill,
Just a promise that he wanted me.

It's not easy to spot a good boy - you have to meet all the bad ones beforehand.
I knew he was a good one when he held my hand and called me baby.
I was so used to keeping my heart guarded,
But something in his kiss changed my world around.

I still smile when I remember him telling me,
Te Amo me amor. Happy Valentines Day

So I met a boy,
And even after I endured terrible heartbreak,
I let him in.

If I could go back, I would hold his hand and kiss him one last time, just to put a smile on his face.
So I met a boy,
Who made me happy and now has the potential to become one of my greatest friends.
