My Summer Romance
By Stephanie, age 14, New York
In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take, the relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make. Well, I took a chance and committed myself to a summer relationship, and I hoped for the best to happen. Sadly, it didn't go so great - my boyfriend dumped me. But the one thing I didn't understand was why.
I soon came to realize I had to talk to him about it, so I did. He said it was because we barely saw each other. He was always too busy for me - going to parties or hanging out with his boys. Then he had the nerve to say his boys were more important than me, and that just broke my heart.
So my advice to you is that summer relationships don't really work unless both partners are willing to make them work. To this day I miss my ex-boyfriend, but I have to deal with the fact that he's moving on. I just hope I can go back to school, and he and I become friends, and maybe work something out.
So I leave you with this: Time goes by a lot slower when you miss the one you love.
