What's Twitter? What's a Tweet? And how do you do it? A lot of you may have these questions dealing with the new popular social networking site called Twitter.
Twitter is similar to Facebook, but it's a different kind of network. It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to operate a Twitter account. Since this network is still fairly new, it's not as self-explanatory as Facebook. However, it's a great way to receive and follow updates from your friends, local newscasts, and even your favorite celebrity!
Celebrities? you may think, but it's true! All you have to do is go to www.twitter.com, and then create a user login name with an email and password. You can also upload a thumbnail image of your face, and upload almost any wallpaper you want to your account.
Next, go to the upper right hand corner and click on 'find people'. You can type in one of your friend's names, almost any company, or even 'Britney Spears'. So, let's say you type in 'Britney Spears', and you click on her profile. If you click 'follow her', then you will receive her updates to your profile. These updates will consist of anything she does during that day that she writes about - it's really cool! A lot of celebrities have these, and it's cool to see what they're doing. If you're lucky they may even follow your updates. To make sure it's really a celebrity, look in their profile in the upper right hand corner and see if it says "verified account". This means that their profile is legit, and it's not a fake user.
Twitter isn't for everyone. However, for people who like to stay involved in the news media and other people's business, Twitter is for you!
