Stubborn Yet Beautiful
By Tess, age 16, Florida
Stubborn yet beautiful
waves of a golden mane whispering in my ear,
Forever I swim in your ocean eyes,
Bottomless,
Perfect,
I swim in them
Yet I never lose my breath.
I'll pack my bags,
I'll never turn back
Yet I will be lost in you
Lost in budding muscles -
Slides that cascade around you.
Lost in a smile,
Lost in a kiss.
I'm turning the page,
yet you are between the lines,
You are written in blood,
You are written in hope -
careening cars
crashing
colliding.
You are inscribed in tragedy,
passion,
fluttering hearts
flying away.
You are inscribed in love.
You have found me in my grave,
you have awakened me.
I can find you in the air,
I can lose you when I'm alone.
You whisper the promise of tomorrow
touching me
catching me,
You scream the lies of yesterday.
Forever I will search
until I am no longer afraid that you will leave,
Forever you will whisper
promises
hope,
You will scream to me
That you are always going to be around.
You will scream
You will whisper.
I will be struck deaf,
Lost in my own fear.
You are inscribed in my heart
Forever.
I will find you.
