A Twihard for Team Edward

By Brittany, age 18, Tennessee

I am a definite Twihard fan. I've been in love with the Twilight saga ever since Fall of '07. I was first introduced to the books when my friend read Twilight in the 6th grade. I was on fall break in Panama City Beach, Florida at Wal*Mart and decided to get a book to read at night. Needless to say, the rest of my vacation - at a beach, for crying out loud - was spent READING. Any book that can distract me from the ocean and beach with hott guys and my family is definitely worth the reading.

I saw both Twilight and New Moon on their midnight premieres in Oak Ridge, Tennessee at Cinemark Tinsel Town. Both nights were crazy packed, but the Twilight crowd was the craziest. New Moon had more of an understanding crowd, with less people who went "over the top". I mean, being a fan is one thing - heck, even being a Twihard is one thing - but the way these people dressed to try to look EXACTLY like the characters, which is impossible, was a little weird to me. The screaming in the theatre and murmurs were to be expected and I greatly joined in.

I am and forever will be Team Edward. I mean, yes, Jacob came in and swept Bella off her feet whenever Edward left her all alone, but he only left her with her best interests in mind and to keep her safe, or what he thought would be safe. It's not his fault he completely underestimated the effect his absence would have on her. Besides, to me, Jacob is a complete butt most of the book, and even in the movie. Even as Bella, I would choose Edward. He was her first love, and after real life experience I can honestly tell you, no matter how badly it ends, no matter how much you wanna hate him, or no matter how awkward it might be, any girl at any age will always remember her first love. Period.

When it actually comes down to Robert and Taylor in person, Taylor is definitely more attractive. No offense to the Twihard Rob fans, but his body almost made me puke compared to Taylor's tan, toned abs. They're both generally very good actors though, in my opinion, so I give them both 5 stars.

Comparing Kristen and Dakota, however, is slightly different. Dakota, as we all know, has had more lead roles and better acting gigs than Kristen. As Jane, she impressed me as a great actress. I enjoyed her calm, yet bitter appearance in playing the character. Kristen has gotten better at playing Bella in New Moon, in my opinion. She's learning.

The movies will never compare to the books though. I feel in love with the books first hand, while the movies cut out half of the information. I understand they have to make the movies short, but I'd honestly rather watch a long movie with more detail, especially when it comes to this saga.

All in all, it is definitely worth all the hype and hysteria of these people with their obsession. After all, in a world like this, it seems quite healthy to me to be able to believe in mythical fantasies of vampires and werewolves. It helps me get through the day.
