An Unfair Game

You've seen me
Out of the corner of your eye
Felt me
Under the nerves of your skin

You've searched for me
In your dreams
Called out to me
Wanting me to stay

Have you found me yet?

I'm here
Next to you
Can you not tell?

Can you not feel me?
My touch
My kiss
My whispers of desire

You're so close
Almost there
Another step
And then ...

(a laugh)

I'm so sorry my dear
You almost had me there
But I am not one to be caught unaware

Perhaps another time
We can play this game again
You'll be the cat chasing
And I'll be mouse chased

But don't forget my little kitty
You're sitting in the palm of my hand
And the house always wins
When the rules are unfair
