Is Life a Dream...Or a Walking Nightmare?!

By Genny, age 18, Malta

What if it was just a dream?

In a dream, that guy who broke your heart would be your knight in shining armour.

In a dream, the popular crowd who hates you would be your best friends.

In a dream, the nerds who constantly send you friend requests on MySpace would be the coolest people around.

In a dream, that gorgeous guy you like and doesn't like you back would be your boyfriend.

In a dream, your prom dress would be a designer one, not the one you had to buy from the vintage shop, and you could actually win the title of prom queen alongside your 'cool' boyfriend.

In a dream, you would always have someone to share your feelings with and a shoulder to cry on; you would never be alone.

In a dream, everything would be perfect - no mishaps, no imperfections, no impossibilities.

But then again, what kind of life would that be?

It would be a fake one, and as much as a perfect life seems the best thing, believe me, it's not!

You were born original, don't die a copy, 'cuz if you do that, then you'd just be going with the flow. Stand out, be unique, and don't be impressed by others' perfection. Anything that is perfect is not real, and as a quote I love says, "If you want a perfect girl, go buy yourself a Barbie doll!" :D

My point is that in the world we live in, there are many people who think they are better than everyone else and they think that they have a life like the one I mentioned in my poem above, but to be honest, that is not the right kind of life to live. Everyone is free to live their own life as they want, but I'm just saying:

Don't ever be fooled by looks and nice gestures. People aren't always who you think they are, so be wise, kid. Hold your head up high, 'cuz there are people out there who'd kill to see you fall!
