COVER

On the Cover

By Genny, age 18, Malta

Hey, all you Sweet Designs fans out there! I am really honored to be on the cover! To begin with, my name is Genny, and I'm from Gozo, a group of small islands in the Mediterranean Sea. I'm also half Italian from my father's side, from Castelvenere to be exact. One of my many passions is writing, and luckily I have found the perfect way to do it, that is by writing for Sweet Designs Magazine. This magazine has given me the opportunity to put my writing skills on the web. I mostly write poems and short stories for the magazine, but I love to blog as well. Writing is something I find a lot of comfort in, as it keeps me from going crazy by all the school assignments and other extracurricular activities I attend. When I'm writing I forget the world around me, as I enter into another world where there are no problems and where I can express myself in a way that no one can tell me otherwise!

I'm 18 years old, an only child, and live in a little village consisting of nearly 5,000 people called Xaghra, which is situated in Gozo, in the Maltese Islands. In my free time I love writing (of course!), singing (yes, I'm a pretty good singer), acting in different kinds of dramas, hanging out with my boyfriend, friends and family, photography, and much, much more! I'm also really into fashion, and have done a few designs of my own as well! I like to always think for the future and never let the past interfere with my plans for the future. I also believe that if someone is willing to achieve something, they will, because if there's a will, there's a way, and if at first you don't succeed try, try, try again! :)

I'm a big fan of TV shows such as Gossip Girl, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, etc. I love going out to the beautiful Maltese countryside, where I can relax and practice my passion for photography. On the other hand, I also like going out to clubs at times and just hanging with my amazing boyfriend Etienne. Over this past year that we have been together he has helped me find myself more and has made me who I am today, and I really love him for that as well :) He made me see who the real Genny was, and I am grateful for that too. I talk about him with everyone I meet, because for me, he is the reason for my smile, my umbrella when it's raining, and my rainbow after the rain; he is absolutely my everything :D I also would be nothing without my friends who are like family to me, and with whom I've made some of the best memories! My family is my life. Lately I was blessed with two other cousins (my Maltese aunt's children) which now add up to two Maltese cousins and 35 Italian cousins!!!

Another thing I like to put an emphasis on is that everyone should mind their own business, and by this I mean that if someone is doing something, and another person doesn't like it, well, it's none of their business. Everyone can do what they want or date who they want, as long as they are not hurting anyone by their actions. Some people try to bring you down because they are clearly jealous of you. Never let them get you down! No one is worth that! If people are jealous of you, then let them be jealous, and if you have haters, don't let that be something negative, because if you have haters, then good. It means you stood up for something in your life!

Seriousness aside, one thing about me that totally describes me is that I'm a shopaholic. :D I spend almost every spare minute of my free time shopping. I mostly shop for shoes. So I guess that also makes me a shoe-aholic! I also do loveee gadgets, like mobile phones, computers, etc., etc. In fact, I would be nothing without my iPhone, my iPod, and my Apple Macbook! I also love to shop for designer clothes, mainly Italian designers. I also love traveling, especially to various countries in Europe. So far I've visited Italy, Sicily, Germany, Spain, England, and France, and I'm hoping to do more traveling in the near future.

I know there is much more to me than what is written above, but I tried to get all the important things in the above passage. To conclude, I would like to thank Sweet Designs Magazine once again, and also Stephanie, for giving me this opportunity, and for always having the time to include us young writers in this magazine! All you teens out there, this is by far a really good magazine that you can actually learn things from, so take my advice, and if you feel like it, read a few articles and then you'll see that what I am telling you is true, that is that this magazine can be of help to you, whatever you are seeking, because its articles focus on different subjects and matters in teens' lives. ;]
