Dreams of Yesterday

As I lay in bed, blue shorts which match your red ones, no shirt, I think of you.
I think of the way your shirts fell awkwardly on my shoulders and how your pants hugged my hips.
I giggle when I think of how we played dress up for your birthday and how you could make me laugh.
Crave your essence, your voice.
As I lay in bed, sheets covering every inch of my skin, I think of you.
How we could lay in bed for hours, talking, holding hands, making friends with the ceiling images.
Oh, how some nights, maybe every night subconsciously, I long for that bed.
As I lay in bed, listening to the fan turn endlessly, I think of you.
So many questions left unsaid,
"Was this real for you?"
"Do you think of me as much as I think of you?"
"Will you come back?"
Kicking the sheets off,
Morning breath settling in my mouth, I think of you.
"Will today be the day I miss you less than yesterday?"
