Get Ready for High School!

It's that time of year again when we all start thinking about school and getting ready for the newgrade we're going into. This time of year can be exciting for some people, and even nerve-wracking, especially if you're going into high school or college. I find it exciting because I get to see my friends again, and get to take some neat classes. I also find it nerve-wracking because it's a new year, which means new teachers and new expectations. In this article I have included different ways to get yourself ready for high school in particular, and how to deal with the first day.

I think people in grade 9 are the most nervous. Depending on where you live,* grade 9 means you have to leave your middle school and move into a bigger school. High school. You may be nervous about fitting in, what the older students think of you, how subjects will be different from middle school, etc.

* In some communities this happens in grade 10.

Nowadays, fitting in isn't very hard. I've noticed in my school that almost everyone has a group, and most students don't even care what others think of them. If you're really worrying about fitting in though, just be yourself and try not to change yourself. If you're worrying about finding your way around the school, don't panic. Usually there are school maps provided, and you can follow them. You can even ask a teacher or an older student about where you're going. As for classes, most of the stuff you learn in grade 9 is just a more basic review of the things you learned in eighth grade. Just be prepared to learn some new things, and be prepared to take on new expectations.

If you're going into your second or third year of high school, you shouldn't be that worried. You will already know what to expect, and how things work around the school. If you are in your third year, you might start to think about what you're going to do in college or university, since grades 11 and 12 are the grades that help you prepare for the future. I am going into my third year of high school, and I am taking a class that will help me get into the college course I want to take.

Overall, in high school performance is a huge thing. If you're going into your last year of high school, or doing an extra year, you should be extremely familiar with what's going on. Personally I think that grade 12 will be the most stressful year of all because it will be my last year before college or university, and most of the classes I'll take are required for the subject I'll be majoring in at college or university.

Overall, just be confident and have faith in yourself. Try to focus on doing well, and try not to fall behind. There are times in high school when it does get stressful and you will just want to give up, but don't. You really have to shine in your high school years, because they reflect on your future. Good luck to everyone.
