I'm sure everyone has heard about the hit ABC summer show, Huge. First airing in early July, Huge was one of many in the ABC summer series, but it definitely stood out from the others. Huge is about a fitness camp for overweight teens. But unlike a reality show with real teens in this same situation, Huge gives us a scripted, yet realistic portrayal.

Starring Nikki Blonsky as the main character, Willamena Rader, Huge gives us insight into what she is going through at camp. Supporting characters include Amber (Hayley Hasselhoff), the "golden girl" of the camp, Dorothy Rand (Gina Torres), the head of Camp Victory, Alistair (Harvey Guillen), the comical, sweet character with some self-confidence issues, Chloe Delgado (Ashley Holliday), the popular, yet mysterious girl at camp, Becca Huffstatter (Raven Goodwin), the bookworm who attempts to overcome her shyness, Ian Schonfeld (Ari Stidham), the awkward yet insightful character who loves music, and George (Zander Eckhouse), the fitness coach all the girls lust after. The wide variety of characters makes the show entertaining, and the fact that they're all so unique makes them very real and easy to relate to. In order not to give away the entire plot, I'll just say that the story is mostly about the characters and their relationships with each other and with themselves. It is an interesting and fresh concept that will immediately capture your heart!

As for my opinion of Huge, I have mixed emotions. I absolutely love the concept and think it is a clever idea. I also love the characters. They're all very realistic, and I can personally relate to them. Whether you're overweight or not, the characters all have very relatable traits. You'll want to know what happens to each of them!

The story lines are also very good. Each week, I have no idea what is going to happen next, and after it's over I'm left wanting more. The events are very unexpected and interesting which makes the show awesome!

As for my dislikes, I feel that Huge focuses on too many characters separate from the main group. For example, they gave us a background story about the head of the camp, which I felt was unnecessary. Also, after watching the first episode, I was a little offended by the way they originally portrayed the attitude of people who are overweight. I felt the character of Willamena was a little too rebellious originally. But after I started watching the show, I realized this was just a front put up by Willamena to hide her true feelings. Overall, I think the show is outstanding.

I give this television show 4 Huge stars! (of a possible 5)
