Fire with Fire
By Imani, age 15, South Africa
I have no ideaHow things went this way
I cannot even remember
Why we hate
It is as if 'we' never existed
For all of these years
I do not think you're even missing me
Like I am missing you.
The worst part is
You say you never did anything wrong
Denying everything, like I am all at fault
I told myself that I won't fight
Fire with fire anymore
So I just became water and just let it go.
That day you attacked me
With your element
Oh so hot!
Burned just with one touch
It brought out the worst in me
Instead of walking away
I had to defend myself
How could somebody I trusted
Hurt me this way?
I just attacked back
That hot, red flame
Burning against yours
Fire with fire
We need water to destroy it.
