The Meaning of Christmas
By Catherine, age 25, England, United Kingdom
The atmosphere is far from mellow,
Children giggling here with excitement,
No word from Christ for our enlightenment.
Though a tree stands tall with presents beneath,
And Ferrero Roches between our teeth,
Mulled wine bastes a family row,
It's all organized we don't know how!
Snow and ice on the uncle's windscreen,
Perturbation about an Auntie's Yung beans,
A select few families go to church,
But most religion is in the lurch.
The meaning of Yuletide is drowned in receipts,
But to rid celebration?
Now that's a mean feat.
