The Season's Greetings
By Akilia, age 14, Oklahoma
"Christmas happens only once a year, my dear," said my grandmother.Asleep in the night tucked into bed tight, but something's racking my mind; I have the need to write. As I get out of bed I scratch my head, wondering where have I put my book. I see pens and paper, that's all I need to keep my mind at ease. Writing with a passion my words on this paper I start to notice it's much later. I scrawl my last words on the pad; as I start to go back to bed I hear someone yelling at my dad.
"You shouldn't do that, you know; they'll never believe it's real."
"Oh shush! Before you wake them, I know it's real because that I can feel deep down in my heart."
After that I really couldn't sleep, and being me I really wanted to peep, but I couldn't, I wouldn't ruin my father's surprise, so then I wrote till sunrise, and then my little brother comes in, screaming and yelling, "Christmas is here! It's really here! Hurray!"
It's true, it is here, and there, heck Christmas is everywhere. As I walk slowly down the stairs, barefooted and dog tired. When I enter the living room with a thud, I notice random people there, but this one guy is a stud. As I go over and start to mingle my grandmother asks me to sing a Christmas jingle. I sing and I yell then I hear some Christmas bells. I notice them from anywhere, not the fake golden ones you'd usually see, silver as silver can be; an amazing song these did play - I'll never forget them to this day.
Then I realized our surprise - my father bought me a puppy! He barked at the cute boy and daddy even bought him a squeaky toy! This Christmas I'll never forget, it was the one pet I ever did get. That year was the best, I got everything and nothing less. I got everything on my list.
