ENTERTAINMENT: MOVIE REVIEW

Mean Girls

Reviewed by Melisa, age 13, Belgium

Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) moves to a new school, where everything is different from where she was before, the girls, the guys, and the drama. She meets Janice (Lizzy Caplan), a really chilled girl, who acts as her tour guide, helping her survive through school. Janice shows Cady the different cliques, one of them being The Plastics - a very mean group of three girls who act like they own everyone. Regina (Rachel McAdams), the leader of the clique, asks Cady to have lunch with them every day. Janice urges Cady to hang out with them to know all their secrets and come back and tell her everything.

Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies ever - the writing, the cast, the scenes. It's about everything a teenage girl goes through in high school - all the drama and problems. The actors captured their roles perfectly and played them as if they were actually in that type of world.

Now, the one thing that really pulled me toward Mean Girls is obviously that I'm a girl, and I think all girls would LOVE this movie, but also it's because of the characters. My favorite character is probably Janice. She's a total free-spirit and doesn't care about what anyone thinks about her. That's what makes her so distinctive compared to the other girls in that school.

Let's talk about the antagonist, Regina George. Regina is the leader of The Plastics and has to be the center of attention at home and at school. I think Regina likes having the role as the most powerful and she wants everyone to know that she can destroy them if she wants to. Yet, there is something likable about her. Maybe it's the fact that she is actually kind to Cady and compliments her... at first. ;)

I would definitely give Mean Girls a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. Every girl has to watch Mean Girls at least once! Have fun! xoxo
