New Year, New Coach, New Player

I remember around this time last year, I was miserable.* Well, the times I had to deal with basketball I was. My coach wouldn't let me play, even though I was just as good as the girls who were playing. However, this year is very different. For starters, we got a new coach, Coach S. She is amazing. It also helps that I remind her of one her favorite basketball players from her other school she worked at. Coach S has better workout routines, better speeches, and provides better motivation for our team. Overall, she is just way better than our other coach. Of course, I am a little biased.
Now I am a starter. I play the most out of all the players on the team, and that includes the people who played last year over me. I am doing a little bit of everything. I score, assist, and try to give help and guidance to my younger peers. This year is perfect. And, thinking back, I just want to laugh and tell my other coach how much she missed by never putting me in.
I don't mean to brag or be pompous, but I am just glad that this year, and this basketball season, has been treating me much better than last year. Hallelujah. And I hope that my good fortune will continue on to 2011 and district play.
So, for all the girls out there who have ever been a bench warmer, Never give up, work hard, and a new door will open for you. Trust me, I have been in that situation before, and it isn't fun. But fight through it, things will get better. :)
* Here's a look back at my situation in an article from January 2010.
