FUN STUFF: POETRY

Suburban Dream

By David, United Kingdom

They live in a suburban dream.
Their house is spacious and detached.
Everyone says how well they're matched
But more and more she wants to scream.

Their home is filled with quality stuff;
They're adding to it year by year.
She even has her own career.
She wonders why it's not enough.

Behind the sham domestic bliss
They keep on having arguments.
She doesn't know just what she wants,
She only knows it isn't this.

He leaves one morning for his job.
She wants to say she can't go on
But by the time she speaks, he's gone.
After he's left she starts to sob -

And then to yell and clench her fists
And as she's often planned before
She takes a razor from the drawer
And cuts the veins on both her wrists.
