REAL LIFE

Back to School!

By Melisa, age 13, Belgium

So school is about to start. Everyone excited? ... No? Of course not. Imagine having to go back to school after two months of just resting and having fun at home. Having to go back to the working mode. Exams, homework, classwork. It's awful! But I have 3 tips for you that can maybe get you excited about going back to school.

First of all, wardrobe. Let's face it, people like to show off their new clothes and accessories to the kids at school. People buy new clothes because they don't want to be seen wearing something twice. Get yourself some new clothes, new accessories, new makeup, new anything! At least, that's one of the things I love about going back to school.

Second, your friends. There are a lot of summer destinations, such as: USA, Turkey, Italy, Spain, etc. There's a big chance that your friends will have probably gone to one of these places to visit their family, childhood friends, or just on vacation. When they're gone, obviously you won't see them and will just have to stay at home playing video games, eating, or watching a soap. Well, I've been doing that because all my friends are away and I'm beginning to feel like I'm rotting away. Going back to school is great for seeing all your friends.

Third, school supplies. I know it sounds nerdy, but it is kind of fun to buy new notebooks, pens, folders, etc. I don't think I'm the only one who writes extremely neatly on the first page of a new notebook. Get some school supplies and label them according to the subject (again, I know it sounds nerdy) and put them all in your bag, desk, or wherever you keep your books.

Don't forget, school always has its advantages!
