COVER

Holiday Greeting

By Stephanie Lynn, age 24, Massachusetts
SDM Editor-in-Chief

It's December, the Holidays, the end of a year, and the end of a decade.

I want to thank our faithful writers and interns for making 2009 our best year ever, with 336 amazingly high quality articles and features. I also want to thank our readers, those who comment on articles, helping us get better at what we do, and those who faithfully and quietly visit. You're the reason we're where we are today!!

Sweet Designs Magazine started about 3 years ago when I chose 8 writers from a field of about 50 American teenage applicants. Today we have writers from Canada, the UK, South Africa, Oman, Malta, India, the Philippines, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, as well as from 25-30 US states, from New Hampshire to Hawaii. We continue to invite young women from every part of our world to write for Sweet Designs Magazine, reflecting on every facet of what it is to be a girl, to be a young woman today.

With your help, my continued goal is to make Sweet Designs Magazine the best online magazine of its kind, giving young writers an opportunity to see their work edited and published, their views and experiences read and considered.

I believe Sweet Designs Magazine is good news - opportunity, really - for teen girls and young women. I appreciate when you do your part in spreading the word about a place that is all about us, where we can use our voice to say what's important to us in an intelligent, respectful forum.

As an American Christian, I will be celebrating Christmas with my family, with a tree, gifts, a holiday dinner, and so on. Whatever your traditions and beliefs, I want to wish you the happiest of holidays, and welcome you as a young woman living in 2010 to share with our readers a piece of your life and mind and world.
