On the Cover:
Happy Third Anniversary!
By Stephanie Lynn, age 25, Massachusetts
SDM Editor-in-Chief
The February 2010 issue marks the third anniversary of Sweet Designs Magazine and kicks off our fourth year. I appeared on our very first cover (we had no other writers for that first issue in Feb. '07) and I joined my friend Ali on a 2008 cover, but mostly we exist to feature YOU, our faithful readers and writers. But, because it's our third anniversary, and my 25th birthday this month, I'm our February cover girl. Yay!!
My vision for the coming year includes expanding our base of readers and writers, inviting the international community of teen girls and young adult women to write their hearts out. My passion for Sweet Designs Magazine is to be a safe, supportive, and affirming community for our generation to talk about any and all aspects of what it is to be a young woman today.
I want to put out the welcome mat for writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, as well as creative artists and crafters, to write/create from the heart on subjects ranging from real life experiences to the kinds of experiences few dare discuss, from fashion to fantasy, entertainment reviews to world views, fun stuff to photography and the arts. Our generation can tweet, message, and network, but I also think we have something more lasting and substantive to say ... and we need a place to say it.
For these last three years I am very grateful for your support, your notes of encouragement, and all of the 800+ features you've created. In moving forward into a new decade I will continue to need your creative minds, your passionate hearts, and your diversity of experiences to help define our generation.
