Stephanie Lynn, Snowed In!

On the cover this month ... it's me! For the second straight year, I've chosen to appear on the February cover because it marks our magazine's anniversary - our fourth, to be precise. Plus, I got to do a photo shoot in the snow ... and do we have snow!! Here in Massachusetts, we received about 62 inches (157 cm) of snow from December 26th to January 27th, 22 inches (56 cm) of which fell on January 12th. That's more than five feet (1.5 m) of snow in about a month's time!

A lot has happened within the past year. I started taking college business courses again last October. Let me say that college the second time around is very different. My first semester I took an economics and a management course, and I loved being back in the classroom. I learned a lot, and I will be writing more about my college experiences in the coming months.

I also learned how to crochet this year. Well, in all honesty, I first picked up a crochet hook in 2007, but mostly I only practiced simple chains and slip stitches until this past year. When I heard that a couple I'm friends with was expecting a baby girl, I decided to make a blanket. I delivered it at their surprise baby shower (yes, on time!), and I've made two more blankets since! (Now, I'm halfway through my fourth.) Plus, I've made other cool gifts, like iPod sleeves and baby hats, mittens, and booties. It looks like I may never have to buy another baby gift again ... I'll just make it! I'm thinking there are a few cool things I can crochet as Christmas gifts too.

When not doing any of the above, I've somehow found the time to read for fun, be with awesome friends, and volunteer with a local youth group.

Happy Fourth Anniversary!

Our February issue marks the start of our fifth sweet year. We've come such a long way, and we're growing in quality and readership each month. None of this would have been possible without such a terrific team of writers and contributors, to whom I'm always grateful.

We have 36 awesome articles and features this month, so browse around and check out the issue! I wrote two articles this month, one about my new favorite old television show American Dreams and an especially cool feature called "A Girl's Valentine's Day Wishlist". I hope you enjoy.

Plus, Stephanie (from New York) has a Beauty Product Giveaway for you! She'd like a few brief opinions, and will be rewarding two lucky readers with some really cool products. And ... if you really get behind this and support it, there may be more to come!!

May Cupid's aim be right on target this Valentine's Day. And if his arrow misses your heart and strikes you instead in the butt, just remember, you can always write about it for Sweet Designs Magazine!! :)
